Welcome to Much Malarkey Manor, a bubble of sanity in an insane world. Home to chickens, cats and bees, and Denise - ordinary human being - and Andy the vet. Even when your castle is small there is always room to make much malarkey.

And then there was one...
Poor Mrs Slocombe has gone to chicken heaven. And poor Mrs Pumphrey is now all alone. All in all, it has been rather a sad day and we really don't know what to do.
Thank you, both for your kind thoughts regarding Mrs S and your devoted reading of happenings at Much Malarkey Manor. She was a mad old chicken, and we were taken a bit by surprise at her sudden demise. But such is the nature of chicken-kind, and I am glad she brought so much fun to our lives, not to mention the occasional pecked knee!
I am so sorry for your loss. I know Mrs. Pumphries will be lonely with out her. I am sure she will be wanting a room upstairs next to yours to keep company.
Bless you for your kind thoughts. I have been spoiling Mrs Pumphrey something rotten today, with sunflower seeds and apple and some dandelions from my walk in the park. She keeps popping in and out of the pod as if she is expecting to find Mrs Slocombe in there, but otherwise has seemed her usual chipper self. She's even been bee-tangling up at the top bar hive which is a dangerous sport.
Time will tell, I suppose, if she will cope as a lone hen or I'll have to try and find a foster home for her with another flock. Don't really want to do that as she is such a character and big part of MMM.
As for having her own room - well, Andy is away for the next four days at a vet conference. He may well return to find his office has been chicken appropriated!
Oh, so sorry to hear that Mrs Slocombe has left you - I will miss her comments.
I think you should get Mrs Pumphrey a 'lady companion', or possibly two, you can always tell her that they are needy orphans who want a housekeeping job. She'll miss her old friend :(
Thanks, Olly. Mrs Pumphrey says she hopes to keep up the comedy single-feathered. She may have to employ one of the cats as a double act partner if the solo gigs don't work.
Pumphrey and Pandora - now there's a thought that makes shudder!
Im so sorry, i have a link to your blog and read every update you post.
ReplyDeleteI know Mrs Solcome will be very much missed by both me and the rest of your avid readers.
